1、 Types and uses of turning tools
Turning tools are the most widely used single edged cutting tools. It is also the foundation for learning and analyzing various types of cutting tools. Turning tools are used on various lathes to process outer circles, inner holes, end faces, threads, grooves, etc. Turning tools can be divided into integral turning tools, welded turning tools, machine clamped turning tools, indexable turning tools, and formed turning tools according to their structure. The application of indexable turning tools is becoming increasingly widespread, and their proportion in turning tools is gradually increasing.
2、 Hard alloy welded turning tool, also known as welded turning tool, is a turning tool that is made by cutting a groove on a carbon steel tool holder according to the geometric angle requirements of the tool, welding the hard alloy blade into the groove with solder, and grinding it according to the selected geometric parameters.
3、 Machine clamped turning tool is a type of turning tool that uses ordinary blades and is mechanically clamped onto the tool holder. This type of knife has the following characteristics: (1) The blade does not undergo high-temperature welding, avoiding defects such as decreased hardness and cracks caused by welding, and improving the durability of the tool. (2) Due to the improved durability of the cutting tools, longer usage time, shorter tool replacement time, and improved production efficiency. (3) The blade holder can be reused, which not only saves steel but also improves the utilization rate of the blade. The blade is recycled and remade by the manufacturer, improving economic benefits and reducing tool costs. (4) After regrinding, the size of the blade gradually decreases. In order to restore the working position of the blade, a blade adjustment mechanism is often installed on the turning tool structure to increase the number of regrinding times of the blade. (5) The end of the pressure plate used to compress the blade can serve as a chip breaker.
4、 Indexable turning tool is a machine clamped turning tool that uses an indexable blade. A cutting edge that is blunt can be quickly replaced with an adjacent new cutting edge to continue working until all cutting edges on the blade have been blunt, and then the blade is scrapped and recycled. After replacing the new blade, the turning tool can continue to work.
1. Advantages of Indexable Turning Tools Compared to Welding Turning Tools, Indexable Turning Tools have the following advantages: (1) High Tool Life Due to the blade avoiding defects caused by welding and high grinding temperatures, the geometric parameters of the tool are completely guaranteed by the blade and tool holder groove, and the cutting performance is stable, thereby improving the tool life. (2) Due to the fact that machine operators no longer sharpen their tools, the production efficiency is high, which can greatly reduce auxiliary time such as stopping and changing tools. (3) It is beneficial for promoting new technologies and processes, and for promoting the use of new tool materials such as coatings and ceramics. (4) Beneficial for reducing tool costs due to the long service life of the tool holder, it greatly reduces the consumption and inventory of the tool holder, simplifies tool management work, and reduces tool costs.
2. Clamping characteristics and requirements of adjustable turning tool blades (1) High positioning accuracy. After the blade is rotated or replaced with a new blade, the change in the position of the blade tip should be within the allowable range of workpiece accuracy. (2) The reliable clamping of the blade should ensure that the contact surface between the blade, blade pad, and blade holder is tightly fitted and can withstand impact and vibration. However, the clamping force should not be too large, and the stress distribution should be uniform to avoid crushing the blade. (3) Smooth chip discharge: It is best to have no obstacles in front of the blade to ensure smooth chip discharge and easy observation. (4) Convenient to use for blade conversion and
